Mattress Warranty FAQ
What warranties cover, what they don't, common claim requirements, and how to protect your coverage.

Most mattress warranties cover manufacturing defects and sagging beyond a specified threshold (usually 1-1.5 inches) for 10+ years. They do not cover normal wear, comfort preferences, stains, or physical damage. Using a mattress protector and proper foundation are typically required to maintain coverage.
What Mattress Warranties Usually Cover
- Manufacturing defects — Flaws in materials or construction that weren't apparent at purchase
- Abnormal sagging/indentation — Body impressions deeper than the specified threshold (usually 0.75"-1.5" depending on brand) without applied weight
- Broken coils or springs — Structural failure of the support system
- Cover/fabric defects — Tearing, unraveling, or other material failures under normal use
Coverage periods: Tempur-Pedic — 10-year full replacement. Stearns & Foster — 10-year limited. Helix — 10-15 year limited (Luxe gets 15). Other brands vary. Full warranty details →
What Warranties Do NOT Cover
- Normal wear and tear — Gradual softening, minor body impressions under threshold
- Comfort preference changes — "I don't like it anymore" is not a warranty claim (that's what our 120-night exchange is for)
- Stains or physical damage — Spills, burns, tears, pet damage. This is why protectors are essential
- Improper foundation use — Using an incompatible or damaged foundation voids most warranties
- Unauthorized modifications — Removing tags, cutting, or altering the mattress
How to File a Warranty Claim
- Document the issue — Take photos of the defect or sagging. For sagging claims, place a straight edge across the indentation and measure the depth.
- Gather your purchase receipt — You'll need proof of purchase and purchase date.
- Contact us — Call (800) 218-3578 or visit any store location with your documentation.
- We'll guide you through the manufacturer's process — Each brand has specific claim procedures. We handle the coordination on your behalf.
How to Protect Your Warranty
- Use a mattress protector from day one — Most warranties require the mattress to be free of stains. A $30 protector prevents a $3,000 warranty claim denial. Protector guide →
- Use the proper foundation — Check your warranty for foundation requirements. Most brands require a solid foundation, platform, or adjustable base. Old box springs may not qualify. Foundation guide →
- Keep your receipt — Digital or physical proof of purchase is required for claims.
- Don't remove the law tag — The tag on your mattress contains manufacturing information needed for claims.
- Follow care instructions — Regular rotation, proper cleaning methods, and appropriate use. Cleaning guide →
