Rotate every 3-6 months
Turn the mattress 180° (head to foot). This distributes wear evenly across the full sleep surface and prevents body impressions from forming in one spot.

Use a proper foundation
Chattam & Wells mattresses perform best on a solid foundation or platform bed with slats no more than 3" apart. This maintains the integrity of the coil system and keeps the warranty valid.
Step 03
Protect the natural fibers
A quality mattress protector preserves the cotton, wool, and silk comfort layers - extending lifespan and keeping the mattress feeling fresh.
Step 04
Allow break-in time

What it is
Heavy-duty thread is passed through the full depth of the mattress - top button to bottom button - and pulled tight. Every comfort layer is locked together from the inside.
Why it matters
Without tufting, comfort layers are glued or stitched - they shift, bunch, and migrate. Tufted mattresses feel the same year one as year ten.
Why nobody else does it
Hand-tufting takes skilled craftspeople and adds days to production. Modern manufacturers eliminated it to reduce cost. Chattam & Wells considers it non-negotiable.
