The 4 certifications

Not marketing claims. Independently verified.

“Natural” and “eco-friendly” are unregulated marketing terms. These four certifications are the only way to verify a mattress is actually organic.

GOTS
Global Organic Textile Standard

Certifies that all textile components - cotton covers, wool batting - are made from certified organic fibers with strict chemical controls at every production stage.

GOLS
Global Organic Latex Standard

Certifies the latex foam itself - at least 95% organic raw latex content, no harmful substances, and verified supply chain from rubber tree to finished foam.

OEKO-TEX
OEKO-TEX Standard 100

Tests every component for over 100 harmful substances including pesticides, heavy metals, and formaldehyde. Ensures no ingredient is harmful - even if not organically sourced.

GreenGuard
GreenGuard Gold (UL)

Certifies low chemical emissions - especially important for children's environments and chemical-sensitive individuals. One of the strictest indoor air quality certifications.

What’s inside

The difference

Organic vs “natural” vs conventional.

“Natural” is an unregulated marketing term. Here’s what you actually get at each level — the label alone tells you nothing.

Who it’s for

Who certified organic is for.

Three sleeper types for whom the certification premium is genuinely worth it.

Chemical-sensitive sleepers

If you react to off-gassing, synthetic fabrics, or chemical finishes, certified organic eliminates the source. No polyurethane foam. No chemical flame retardants. Just verified natural materials.

Parents & young children

Children spend more time asleep and are more vulnerable to chemical exposure. GOTS + GOLS certification means no chemical flame retardants, no off-gassing, and no pesticide residues anywhere near where they sleep.

Eco-conscious consumers

Among the most environmentally responsible mattress choices available. Natural latex from sustainably managed rubber trees, GOTS-certified cotton and wool, biodegradable materials — every component is verified, not just marketed.

A mattress is only truly organic when its materials are independently certified to organic standards - not just marketed as "natural" or "eco-friendly." The two key certifications are GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) for the latex foam and GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) for the fabric components like cotton covers and wool batting. Both certifications require third-party auditing of the entire supply chain - from farm or rubber plantation through manufacturing. Without certification, there is no verified standard for what "organic" means on a mattress label.
