Why latex

Four things only latex does this well.

Latex is the oldest alternative mattress material — and still the most underappreciated. Here’s what makes it genuinely different from every foam option on the market.

Instant responsiveness

Unlike memory foam's slow sink, latex springs back the moment you move. Easy position changes, no "stuck" feeling, and natural body support from the first touch.

Inherently cool

Open-cell structure allows air to circulate freely. Natural latex is one of the coolest-sleeping materials on earth - no cooling gel infusions required.

15-20 year lifespan

The single most durable mattress material. Rubber tree sap maintains elasticity far longer than polyurethane foams, which degrade and lose support.

Hypoallergenic & eco-friendly

Naturally resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew. Biodegradable, sustainably harvested, and available in GOLS-certified organic forms.

The processes

Dunlop vs Talalay.

Two ways to turn liquid latex into a mattress. Both use the same raw material (natural, synthetic, or blended) — the difference is in the cell structure and feel.

The original

Dunlop

Liquid latex poured into a mold and baked in one continuous pour. As it bakes, sediment settles toward the bottom — making Dunlop denser on one side and firmer overall.

  • Denser & firmer - asymmetric density
  • More durable - typically longer lifespan
  • Support cores - grounds the foundation layer
  • Best for firm and back support lovers
Comfort layer pick

Talalay

Liquid latex poured into a mold, then vacuum-sealed and flash-frozen before baking. The result is a uniform, open cell structure - lighter, softer, more consistent.

  • Lighter & softer - uniform density
  • Airier cell structure - better cooling
  • Comfort layers - ideal top layer
  • Best for plush, consistent feel

Many premium latex mattresses use Dunlop for the core and Talalay for the comfort layer — combining durability with luxurious feel.

Four types of latex

Not all latex is the same.

From rubber tree sap to GOLS-certified organic — here’s how to tell them apart.

Purest

Natural latex

Harvested from the sap of rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis). Naturally elastic, breathable, and biodegradable. The purest form - no petroleum chemicals.

Most comfortable

Talalay latex

Liquid latex poured into a mold, vacuum-sealed, and flash-frozen before vulcanization. Lighter, softer, airier - ideal for comfort layers.

Most durable

Dunlop latex

The original process: liquid latex poured into a mold and baked in one pour. Denser and firmer - ideal for support cores and a grounded feel.

Certified organic

Organic latex

GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) certified. Verified free of synthetic chemicals throughout the entire supply chain.

Who it’s for

Who latex is for.

Three sleeper types for whom latex genuinely outperforms every other material.

Eco-conscious sleepers

Natural and organic latex is the most sustainable mattress material on the market. Biodegradable, sustainably harvested from rubber trees, and available in GOLS-certified organic form.

Hot sleepers

Open-cell structure lets air circulate naturally. Unlike memory foam, latex doesn’t need gel infusions or copper additives to sleep cool — the material itself is breathable.

Active sleepers

Latex responds instantly to movement. If you move frequently, switch positions, or get in and out of bed often, latex's bounce makes every movement effortless.

A latex mattress uses foam made from the sap of rubber trees (natural latex) or from synthetic rubber compounds (synthetic latex), or a blend of both. The material is naturally elastic, resilient, and breathable - properties that give latex mattresses their characteristic buoyant, responsive feel. Unlike memory foam, which contours slowly in response to heat, latex responds immediately to pressure and springs back when you move. Latex mattresses are highly durable, naturally resistant to dust mites and mold, and - in natural or organic form - one of the most eco-friendly mattress options available.
