Griffith created a trust fund for pre-existing improvements, and in 1919, after the death of the city, Griffith began to build what he wanted. The Amphitheater, called the Greek Theater, was completed in 1930 and the Griffith observatory was completed in 1935. After Griffith's original gift, future donations, land purchases, and returns from private land, the park has expanded to the present size. 1944 In December, Sherman donated 444 acres of Hollywood outdoor space to Griffith Parky. These large, passive, ecologically clean features are bordered by the Hollywood lake (west), the former Hollywood sign (north) and the Bronx Canyon (east), where it is associated with the unique Griffith donation.
